Success Starts Within: Coach Tarie Shares the Entrepreneur Mindset That Builds Great Businesses

ENTREPRENEURSHIP CONVERSATIONS™ – PART 3

Before You Build A Business, Build The Entrepreneur: Why Most People Never Awaken the Creator Within

By Coach Tarie | Leadership Expert & Business Growth Strategist
Founder of the School of LeaderShift Success & Entrepreneurship (SoLSE)

The greatest business idea you may never discover is the entrepreneur hidden inside you. Over the past weeks, we have challenged the common belief that entrepreneurship is merely about starting businesses. Instead, we explore a different philosophy that has transformed how I coach: "Before You Build A Business, Build The Entrepreneur."

The Entrepreneurship Iceberg: The visible business represents only a small fraction of success. The greatest part lies beneath—the mindset, the identity, and the philosophy.

I have reached a conclusion: The greatest obstacle to entrepreneurship is rarely outside the individual. More often, it is inside. The greatest business that many people will never build is the entrepreneur that never awakens within them.

The Entrepreneur is Born Before the Business

Success is not something you chase; it is someone you become. Every successful enterprise is simply an extension of the entrepreneur's internal work.

Long before Apple existed, Steve Jobs had become the person capable of imagining it. Long before Amazon transformed global commerce, Jeff Bezos had developed the curiosity, discipline and long-term thinking required to build it. Businesses are therefore born twice: The first birth happens inside the entrepreneur; the second birth happens in the marketplace.

Your business can only grow to the extent that you grow. Your enterprise can only mature to the extent that your thinking matures.

7 Invisible Barriers to Entrepreneurship

1. Lack of Creator Identity Many have been conditioned to see themselves as consumers. They ask "Who will employ me?" rather than "What problem can I solve?" Entrepreneurship is first an identity conversation.
2. The Silent Destruction of Fear Fear of criticism, rejection, and loss traps potential. Entrepreneurs decide that purpose is more important than fear.
3. Waiting for Favourable Conditions Perfect conditions rarely exist. "He who observes the wind will not sow." A vision that cannot start now will probably never materialise.
4. The Prison of Reverse Learning Conditioning that learning must come before doing. Real life teaches through experience—walking, falling, adjusting, and walking again.
5. Ignoring the Corridor Principle Many refuse to move because they cannot see the entire journey. Movement creates clarity; walking through the first door reveals the next.
6. Ghosts from the Past Inherited ways of thinking, patterns of belief, and cultural wounds that leave many waiting for solutions from outside themselves.
7. A Different Perspective Most people see problems; entrepreneurs investigate them. Most people complain about gaps; entrepreneurs see opportunity.

Africa Does Not Have an Opportunity Problem

Africa is overflowing with opportunities. Every traffic jam, agricultural challenge, or power shortage represents a business opportunity. The challenge is not that opportunities do not exist; it is that many have never developed the eyes to recognise them.

"Opportunities are not scarce. Entrepreneurial eyes are." Africa's future will not be determined by natural resources, but by the quality of entrepreneurs we develop.

The Weekly Challenge

Change the Conversation This week, do not ask: "What business should I start?" Ask instead: "What problem can I no longer ignore?" Then take one practical step towards solving it.
COACH TARIE'S FINAL THOUGHT

Build the Entrepreneur First

The world does not merely need more businesses; it needs more awakened entrepreneurs. Perhaps the next entrepreneur who transforms a family, builds an industry, or changes a community is reading these words today. And perhaps that entrepreneur is you.
