Videos shared on Thursday showed the two women standing together at Enterprise Car Sales, where they collected a brand-new 2026 Toyota Fortuner 2.4 GD-6—reportedly worth US$68,000—along with a staggering US$20,000 for fuel. In addition, Chivayo pledged a separate US$20,000 directly to Daisy for her personal upkeep, forcing a historic public reunion of the fractured Mtukudzi family.

The massive windfall followed Selmor's public defense of the businessman on August 20, amid social media criticism directed at Chivayo's habit of donating vehicles to musicians, religious leaders, and public figures.

"The honest truth is that no musician in Zimbabwe will come out and say what Sir Wicknell is doing is bad, because for sure he is giving us life-changing opportunities," Selmor stated, detailing her own past financial struggles where she and her husband, musician Tendai Manatsa (son of the legendary Zexie Manatsa), travelled by commuter omnibus even after the success of her 2013 hit "Nguva Yangu".

The Car & The Cash Chivayo responded by pledging a fully paid 2026 Toyota Fortuner, plus US$20,000 for fuel. However, he attached a major condition: "Please call and ask Mama Daisy to accompany you to see Madzibaba Chipaga together next week... Mama Daisy will also get her 20 thousand USD for her personal upkeep."

Pushing for Peace When announcing the gifts, Chivayo urged the two women to put their longstanding differences aside, stating: "Life is too short to hate one another and hold generational grudges."

The Mtukudzi Family Divide

The relationship between Daisy and Oliver Mtukudzi's daughters from his earlier marriage to Melody Murape—Selmor and Sandra—has been deeply strained for years. The tensions spilled into the public domain following the international music icon's death in January 2019.

Tuku's Influence Ethnomusicologists note that while Oliver mastered Afro-jazz, Selmor leans into contemporary pop. Yet, she balances her own sound with paying homage to her father.
